Message Board
Postings on this board must be restricted to MPs, MLAs and MPPs responses to the following question:
MP -“As my Member of Parliament, will you publicly commit to support legislation which will amend the Canada Health Act to include autism treatment (ABA/IBI) under Medicare?”
MLA or MPP - “Would you support changing the definition of “insured services” under the provincial healthcare plan to include science-based autism treatment – ABA/IBI?”
How did they respond?

I am not anti-Conservative. I live in this riding and will be working with my MP on many issues. Clearly this is one issue that needs work. The other issue will be learning to retract and apologize rather than deny. Mistakes are okay – we all make them – but he can’t flatly deny his own words – he spoke in front of at least 1000 witnesses.
Vancouver-Kingsway Don Davies said YES to covering autism treatmet under Medicare.
During the recent election I erroneously posted here that Vancouver-Kingsway incumbent said No to the MFAN question.
In fact Don Davies, said YES, if re-elected he WOULD support a private member’s bill to amend the CHA to include autism treatment [ABA/IBI] under medicare.
I deeply regret my error and apologize to Mr Davies for any confusion this has caused on where he stands on this issue.
I find it hard to believe that James Moore defined Autism as a Special Interest Group. I’d like to see the tape – transcript or film – verifying this accusation. If by some stretch of the imagination Mr. Moore did say such a thing – then either he is ignorant about Autism and would be well advised to retract the statement and familiarize himself with the disease and discussing it with OUR Minister Of Health – who should have enacted the legislation long ago!
Again I highly doubt that Mr. Moore would have said what the anti Conservatives claim he did. And am sure that someone of his intelligence will of course commit to the legislation. Now how about asking the same to Our Minister of Health ?
The NDP and Liberal participants in the forum have both confirmed that Moore made the statement that Autism is not a disability.
