2011 Election
There was be a federal election on Monday, May 2, 2011.
Now is the time to take action – find out which candidate(s) in your electoral district will stand up and support Medicare coverage for science-based autism treatment (ABA/IBI).
Ask each candidate this question:
“If you are elected to parliament, will you publicly commit to support legislation which will amend the Canada Health Act to include autism treatment (ABA/IBI) under Medicare?”
Steps to follow:
1. Identify the candidates in your electoral district by going to www.elections.ca and follow their instructions.
2. Ask each candidate the question by:
- Meeting with them
- Having a telephone conversation
- Exchanging emails
3. Other opportunities to ask candidates the question:
- Attend all-candidates forums
- Host along with others parents and supporters “meet and greet” events for each candidate.
- If you belong to a service club or other not-for-profit organization, encourage them to host an all-candidates meeting.
4. Call Talk Radio when candidates are guests.
Get the message out – ask your riding candidate the following question:
“If you are elected to parliament, will you publicly commit to support legislation which will amend the Canada Health Act to include autism treatment (ABA/IBI) under Medicare?”
Share the candidates responses or lack of response by:
- Posting on our message board
- Letter to your community newspaper
- Email family, friends and neighbours
If a candidate says, YES to the question, confirm it by email or letter. If this candidate is elected, arrange a follow-up meeting at their constituency office to discuss next steps
